Why is it that Christians say they know that Gods word and the world conflict, yet they are remiss to do what Gods word says? Instead they follow the worlds word and then can’t figure out why things aren’t working out! A perfect example is a woman’s place in Gods plan for life. Millions of women are suffering from mental disorders that get classified as ‘depression’, and I have no doubt that many do suffer clinical depression from chemical imbalances and such, but how many simply suffer ‘depression’ because they are suffering due to fighting against Gods will?

Acts 9:

And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

How many Christian men and women are “kicking against the pricks” because they claim to be children of God but refuse to be obedient to His word because it doesn’t mesh well with societal thinking? Husbands refusing to take on the authority and leadership in their marriages because society (and the church) tells them that “men and women are equal in marriage and no one person should be the leader”? Wives refusing to submit because society (and the church) tell them they should never have to submit if they feel uncomfortable doing so or if their husbands don’t meet a prerequisite list that doesn’t exist in the bible?

It may make us husbands feel uncomfortable to lead our wives, to demand respect and submission because in modern times its not the norm. We don’t feel uncomfortable demanding a fellow brother in the Lord step back into obedience when he is in sin! In fact, we often trumpet the fact that we do so! “So and so was doing such and such and, believe you me, I took him to task on it! You are in sin, brother, I said, in sin and you need to repent now and get back in line with scripture”! Yet a wife’s obedience, submission and respect toward her husband are plainly written in scripture, yet we hold wives to no account except, perhaps, in the most extreme cases. At the same time husbands are told how they are lacking in leadership, but they are handed watered down biblical tools for the task! They are told they can only lead through serving, yet woman was made to serve man:

Genesis 2:

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Again we run into the same problem in that very few churches or pastors will point this out, but will instead water it down to make it more palatable and keep their pews filled! What about the penalty we husbands can expect if we fail to adequately use the authority given to us by God:

Matthew 25:

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And what of the women who refuse to submit and be respectful and obedient to their husbands? Do you think God wrote a manual for your enslavement in the bible? You are told that the bible is the perfect word of God and then in the next breath told that God got it wrong by telling women to be subject to their husbands, silent in the church and not to be teachers of scripture, but to learn from your husbands – And you believe it! It gets swallowed whole and then, when it wretches in your stomach and you suffer from worry and anxiousness you can’t figure out why, so you turn to mind-altering drugs to help! You are told about Sara, who obeyed her husband Abraham, even calling him ‘Lord’ as a term of respect, not as a replacement for God:

1 Peter 3:

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Yet in the same sentence you are told that you don’t have to follow the biblical example! Think about the women of biblical times and the message they would have been receiving from the reading of the words of the gospel without the addition of other books written by people trying to make money or a name for themselves. The above verses were written by Peter, who was a friend and disciple of Jesus himself! I promise that if you look in your bibles at verse 7 Peter does not say “but that doesn’t mean YOU have to be that obedient or respecting of YOUR husband”.

The days are coming when Jesus will return. All around us the evidence put forth by the bible that Christians should be watching for are taking place: Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, famine, men are lovers of themselves, sin is being practiced as a normal lifestyle and the churches of the West are failing in their right and proper teaching of the word of God. There comes a time when we have to decide, as Christians, who we trust: The person telling us what the bible says, or what the bible says.

The day is quickly approaching when our king will return, and the opportunity to make that decision will pass. Are you willing to wait until the last second?
