I’m not a huge fan of the Grand Theft Auto series. I don’t have anything against it, it’s just not really my game style. In fact, the only GTA game I have played EVER was Vice City. It was a pretty fun game and you could certainly get lost in the large world, where you seemingly have no limit of things to do. One of my favorite things to do in game was to wait until nightfall, when all the neon of the city would light up, jack someone of their crotch rocket and zip around the city at breakneck speed, radio blasting. Despite what you might think it was actually really cool and relaxing.
That brings me to what was probably the real star of the whole game, the soundtrack! The game featured seven different ‘radio stations’ in Vice City, each playing a different genre of music with it’s own DJs and commercials. It was done exceedingly well and is only made better by an awesome selection of 80’s hits!
Even if you don’t game you can’t help but enjoy these great tunes, punctuated by a DJ intro, intermission and outro, as well as a couple of cheesy commercials. My personal favorite is Radio Espantoso, which features South American music. Its always a treat!
